Welcome on the Société généalogique du Nord-Ouest website!

SGNO is a non-profit organization that focuses on the history of Canadian families and their genealogies.  

SGNO, a society with 30 years of experience, has a research centre located in the Cité francophone in Edmonton (AB) open to all interested people.  

Although most of our resources are in French, our volunteers are bilingual (French and English) and would be pleased to help you with your research.

A 30 minute talk in English (held in person at the SGNO centre and via Zoom) will be hosted by Annette Natalie Perreaux on Saturday, November 28, 2026 at 3 p.m. (Edmonton time). The title of the talk — From Millot to Milot: Tracing My French-Canadian Roots and the Story of Our Family’s Assimilation.

The proposed date for the AGM (annual general meeting) of the SGNO is Saturday November 28, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. The AGM will be held in a hybrid format (via Zoom and in person at the SGNO Centre) and will be conducted in both French and English.
