50th Anniversary of the Alberta Genealogical Society (AGS)

The Alberta Genealogical Society (AGS) celebrates its 50th anniversary with a conference on September 23, 2023. There will be several great presentations, plus exhibitors and vendors offering genealogy products and services.
We find at 2pm a presentation entitled "Centuries of Francophone Settlement in Alberta". This presentation is a collaboration between the SGNO and the SHFA (Francophone Historical Society of Alberta), led Denis Perreaux (Director of the SHFA) and Jean-Yves Vanier-Verbeek (Vice-president of the SGNO). Jean-Yves and Denis will explain the history of the Francophonie in Alberta with the transcontinental and international arrival of Francophones in Alberta. From the early 1600s to the present day, different periods and French-speaking villages in Ablerta will be twinned with family lines of pioneers selected within these same communities.
