Workshop (in english) : Finding Indigenous Ancestors Presented by Sheila Genaille

Saturday, September 26 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

An interative workshop in English (held in person at the SGNO centre and via Zoom) will be hosted by Ms. Sheila Genaille on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 10 a.m. (Edmonton time). The title of the talk — Finding Indigenous Ancestors.

Ms. Genaille is a 7th generation Métis, historian and researcher.

The presentation includes: Scrip Records, Treaty Pay Lists, Church Records, Census Records.

A handout will be made available for SGNO members on the website sgno.ca (in the members only area).

To participate in the online search, please bring a laptop, iPad, or iPhone and the names you want to search, or you may just observe.

If you prefer to attend in person, no registration is required. Simply come to the SGNO centre, Room 102 at La Cité francophone in Edmonton (8627 91 Street [Rue Marie-Anne Gaboury]).

The workshop is free for SGNO members. For non-members, prior to the workshop date, we ask that you register as a SGNO member for one year, at a cost of $25..

There will be a 30 minute break between 12pm and 12:30pm.
