Talk (in english) : From Millot to Milot: Tracing My French-Canadian Roots and the Story of Our Family’s Assimilation by Annette Natalie Perreaux

A talk in English (held in person at the SGNO centre and via Zoom) will be hosted by Annette Natalie Perreaux on Saturday, November 28, 2026 at 3 p.m. (Edmonton time). The title of the talk — From Millot to Milot: Tracing My French-Canadian Roots and the Story of Our Family’s Assimilation.
Annette Natalie will share her journey of discovering her family’s French-Canadian roots, which began with a childhood memory of her grandfather saying that he spoke French as a boy. Her curiosity eventually led her to the SGNO Centre, where she uncovered how her Milot great-grandparents’ family moved west in the 1950s, leaving behind generations of family history in Quebec and New France. Her research took her even further back to the first Milot ancestors who crossed the Atlantic from France to New France in the mid-1700s. She will also share stories from her travels east to visit the communities where her ancestors lived.
