The censuses of New France, Acadia, and Canada

The next meeting of the Genealogists’ Exchange, in French and in a hybrid format (in person at the SGNO centre and via Zoom), will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 1 p.m. During this meeting, Jean-Yves Vanier-Verbeek, president of the SGNO, will give a presentation on the censuses of New France, Acadia, and Canada—some one of the most valuable tools in French-Canadian genealogy. He will explain how to find Censuses online, what information they contain, how they help trace families over time, and how to assess their reliability.
