French SIG : The censuses of New France, Acadia, and Canada

The next session of the French SIG in Zoom format is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. During this meeting, Jean-Yves Vanier-Verbeek, president of the SGNO, will give a presentation (in English) on the censuses of New France, Acadia, and Canada — some one of the most valuable tools in French-Canadian genealogy. He will explain how to find censuses online, what information they contain, how they help trace families over time, and how to assess their reliability.

The French Special Interest Group (SIG) is a collaboration between AGS (Alberta Genealogical Society) Edmonton Branch  and the SGNO where sessions (in English) are scheduled by Zoom for special presentations and discussions on researching French ancestors from North America to Europe. 

Members of the general public are welcome to attend one free session for each of the AGS Special Interest Groups. Membership with the AGS is required to join more frequently.
