The next session of the French SIG in Zoom format is schedule for Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. During this meeting Jean-Yves Vanier-Verbeek, SGNO president, will give a presentation (in English) on the censuses of New France, Acadia, and Canada — some one of the most valuable tools in French-Canadian genealogy. He will explain how to find censuse online, what information they contain, how they help trace families over time, and how to assess their reliability.

The next meeting of the Genealogists’ Exchange, in French and in a hybrid format (in person at the SGNO centre and via Zoom), will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 1 p.m. During this meeting, Jean-Yves Vanier-Verbeek, president of the SGNO, will give a presentation on the censuses of New France, Acadia, and Canada— some of the most valuable tools in French-Canadian genealogy. A talk in French (held in person at the SGNO centre and via Zoom) will be presented by Claudette Proulx on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. (Edmonton time). The topic of the presentation is The Pioneer Families of Ripon Who Left for Western Canada. Claudette Proulx, originally from Bonnyville, is a descendant of pioneers who migrated from Ripon to settle in Western Canada. She has conducted extensive historical and genealogical research over several years on the Ripon diaspora in Western Canada.

In collaboration with Edmonton & District Historical Society and their 30th annual historical festival, 2026 edition. Come enjoy a cup of coffee/tea and some snacks while we help you find your ancestors or listen to us talk about our Society, our mandate and our projects.
